Autographing your eBooks?

A question has come up several times recently. With the increasing number of eBooks, how does one get the author’s autograph? One might argue that it’s not the same — which it may not be — however, Nevada told me today that at one of her signings someone came up and slapped her Kindle (or was it a Nook?) down on the table and had her autograph the cover of it. Apparently it was a white cover s0 it was possible. Mine is red canvas, so I guess I’m out of luck. But for those of you who have gone the route of the eBook, don’t be shy about getting the author’s autograph … on something… if you make it to a signing.

Great news! The Rope hit three New York Times lists. What with eBooks I guess you don’t track just one list now for bestsellers, but several.

#9 for printed hardcover
#24 for eBook
#13 for the combined list

Signed copies of The Rope are now available to order through The Poisoned Pen NOTE: clicking on book title will open up a drop down page showing other editions available for The Rope. I see that audio can be ordered for the release date of January 17 and it gives dates for the release of paperback, large print, etc. The Poisoned Pen doesn’t do the e-book format so you’ll need to go to Amazon, Barnes ‘n Noble or where ever you usually go for those.

“The Rope” by Nevada Barr – great work, everyone! What does this say about the future of e-books?

We just received these figures from Amazon.com for online pre-orders of The Rope. The publisher thinks this is significant, so I’ll go with that since wouldn’t know.

The Rope has pre-orders of 2,465 copies (print) and 4,225 (eBook) for a total of 6,690 pre-orders.

I think The Rope is going to be a fun read … I guess I’d better get my pre-order in! (Kindle). Thank you, everyone, for helping get this book off to a good start!

What do you think this says for the future of the e-book — nearly twice as many orders are for the e-book format. It’s the wave of the future IMHO. Personally, if a book I want to read is not out in Kindle, I wait for it.

I’ve gotten a number of questions in regards to when the audio of The Rope will be release. You must know by now that I know ‘Jack-Diddly’ about this and Nevada knows less. The author is the last to know. However, being the resourceful individual that I am, I checked on Amazon.com (where else? all the while wondering why said questioner did not do the same) and find that it *looks* as if The Rope is going to be released in kindle, audio, and hardbound all on the same day: January 17th. NEXT WEEK! I honestly don’t know how this works but suspect it’s something negotiated with the publisher and so varies.

I just received the remainder of the photos from Nevada’s research trip to Glen Canyon National Recreational Area — at least I think this is all there are. I will put a gallery up of them all on her Facebook page.

Happy New Year everyone. Now we can officially get excited about the release of the next Anna Pigeon mystery, The Rope. RELEASE DATE: January 17th, only two weeks away. The director of marketing for the book just sent us an excerpt of the book to post for those interested, (link below) with the statement: “We are getting very excited about the upcoming publication of The Rope! The preorders and promotion look great, and the early reads have been phenomenal. I think people are enormously eager …”
